The Second Principle of Reiki

The second principle of Reiki states that “namely today don’t get angry.” While this is a short principle, it also holds several different truths in relation to it, all which are used when going through the healing process and different practices that are used in Reiki. This principle is not only used to help with the healing process, but also to change the every day consciousness that one holds as a reaction to the world.

It is said in relation to Reiki, that when one becomes angry, they are not able to observe the world. Anger becomes a block of energy towards the universal energy flow. Because of this, not being angry with anything is important when practicing Reiki. Anger, like anxiety, will cause extra blocks of energy that will then have to be worked on, as well as the other blocks of energy. Unblocking this energy is not only supposed to be done within a Reiki setting, but also as disciplined practice outside of the Reiki classroom.

When one follows the second principle of not becoming angry, the Reiki energies are said to be able to change. Learning, observing, and finding small manifestations in the world will be revealed to us when not angry with things around us. When one is able to become more observant of the things around them, it will allow for a different type of reaction to occur.

Many times, when one is angry, it causes a quick reaction or reflex to occur. This reaction is a nerve response that moves to your brain and causes a mental reflex in relation to someone. This reaction, while impulsive, can cause more anger to accumulate around you as a response to your response. These reactions block off the Rei, or universal energy, from being able to manifest where you are. When one responds to the surrounding energy with an awareness of what is going on, instead of with anger, it allows for opportunities to flow from this energy.

Some Reiki leaders will also respond to this second principle as allowing yourself to be a part of a higher consciousness. When this consciousness is asleep, it causes you to react, instead of observe. By awakening this awareness, it will cause a different type of observation and manifestation to occur instead of the anger.

It is said that by awakening this consciousness, it allows for the Soul to become aware of the flow of the universe, and all of the goodness that is around it. This principle will then help with the healing. By opening the consciousness to this energy through this principle, one will be able to react in different ways and change many things around them.

The second principle of Reiki is used to unblock energy that may be inside someone. When the anger and tensions are released from someone, it opens them to a different level of consciousness and awareness. This awareness allows one to observe and allows for the universal energies to flow through them.
