Aromatherapy Can Help You Lose Weight
By Tracey Mumford
We live in a world that portrays beauty as a stick-thin woman wearing sunglasses and a smile. As much as we hate that woman for being beautiful, a small part of us wants to shed a few pounds and become happier with ourselves. Unfortunately, we’re constantly bombarded by bogus advertisements of fad diets, weight loss pills, milk-shakes, creams, surgical procedures, and starvation! This is hardly a solution to losing weight. None of these things are good for you (mentally or physically). If only there were a natural solution to losing weight…Wait, there is! Aromatherapy.
We know it sounds like another one of those bogus things. How can aromatherapy help you lose weight? Consider this: there’s thought to be a strong connection between smell and emotion. If a pleasant smell can make you happy, you’ll feel better about yourself overall. This is mental stimulation. Being content with oneself is positive, powerful, and contagious.
By increasing your sense of relaxation and mental well-being, your physical well-being will follow in this pattern. Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean that you can burn a candle and eat box of chocolates in one sitting. You’ll never see any results, that way. This just means that aromatherapy can help you lose weight.
Consider aromatherapy as a support system. It supports your mood, and in doing so–you make healthier choices. Healthier choices include: proper diet and routine exercise. While it may seem difficult, you’ll need to reward yourself when you feel that you‘ve made a step towards progress. Try making a plan. If you eat lunch out every day, save the money and get yourself a professional essential oil massage once a week. If you’re used to snacking in front of the television each night, grab a book and take a relaxing essential oil bath instead. Your body will thank you for it!
Once you find a pattern that works for you, you’ll feel completely content with the proactive decision you’re making. You’ll feel even better when you see fabulous results! Some of the essential oils that are considered helpful in promoting weight loss, include: grapefruit, fennel, birch. Lemon, and juniper. These oils are very appealing to the senses. Lemon and Grapefruit promote energy. Their aromas have a positive effect on the body, which is almost like a quick ‘pick me up.’ It’s actually quite comparable to the feeling of caffeine. Except this…is all natural.
