"Warriorship: The deliberate cultivation of harmony."
Think about what your stress and anxiety really are. How do you experience them? What words would you use do describe them? Are you more likely to lose your temper when you're stressed out or not? Well, you know the answer from your own experience and we all do. So would you ever describe stress as a calm and harmonious state? Not likely! Stress and anxiety are the ultimate experience of "anti-harmony", of internal discord.
For all of us stressed-out, anxiety-ridden Westerners, there is some bad news: we don't usually see the whole truth about our stress - that truth is that we've been educated into the stress dynamic by our profoundly disharmonious culture.
Think about it: is there any attempt in Western culture to cultivate harmony in a systematic way? No. Instead, through centuries of error we've built a civilization that splits mind from body, man from nature and consciousness from object. These three errors are recipes for stress, neurosis and disease on a civilization-wide scale. Authentic Ancient Traditions (including ancient Christianity - which still exists, by the way) all warn us about these mistakes and propose a cure for them. What's this mystery cure? It's been presented in many different forms over the ages.
As a matter of fact, different cultures require slightly different approaches. But if you had to put it in a nutshell, here it is... Ancient traditions understand the body-mind organism as a single whole, and tell us that the only way we can ever achieve the quality of life open to us is to CULTIVATE and REFINE this body-mind instrument. This means all of us desperately need to heal the mind-body split, make friends with our bodies and "move back in". You see, most Western people live in their heads. They don't even know how unnatural this is. I only found out myself from years of exposure to non-Western approaches to life, such as the Eastern Christian approach to spiritual life and years of practicing Asian martial arts. Healing the split is the first step in moving toward your full potential. It's the easiest and most effective way to eliminate stress and anxiety.
It's an indispensable step to enjoying a life of Tranquility, Control, Health, Love and Security. The most effective way I know of to teach this indispensable life skill to Westerners like us is the ancient practice of HARA. As a Qi Gong teacher and Tai Chi expert, I consider HARA to be easier to learn than Tai Chi and 5 times more effective. And the only course in English on the magnificent art of HARA, so far as I know, is: Rock Solid Tranquility: Using the Ancient Art of HARA to Create Unshakable Inner Peace, Abundant Energy, Personal Success and a Stress-Free Life.
For more details, go to http://www.OceanOfCalm.com/info.php Once we start relating to our being as an instrument, everything changes. We automatically start treating ourselves better. Without really thinking about it, we start to look for ways to harmonize our inner and outer being. We start to project peace and harmony. Life becomes an amazing, vibrant and fulfilling experience. In short, you start to feel a lot better.
Stress melts away, health improves, you become more optimistic... the list is endless. Dr. Symeon Rodger
